Welcome to Xining, the capital and largest city of Qinghai province! Upon arrival in Xining, You driver and tour guide will meet you at the airport and take you to the Ta’er Monastery. It is one of the largest monasteries of Tibetan Buddhism. Based on the birthplace of Tsongkhapa, founder of the famous Yellow Hat sect, the monastery contains incomparable treasures, delicate Tibetan butter sculptures. This sacred place is a real residence where not only the monks live, but also believers come to pilgrimage. Stroll around the halls and courtyards with your tour guide, get to know its history, people and soul.

In the morning, you will be transfered to Qinghai Lake. 

Qinghai Lake is a place that must be visited once in a lifetime. Enjoy a walking tour around the lake; you will be amazed by this highland lake’s scenery. It is also interesting to see grazing animals – sheep, goats, duos, horses. You can ride a bike or cruise around the lake to taking in the incredible landscape here.

Then, drive back to Xining for accommodation.

After breakfast, drive about 165km (2.5 hours) to Tongren, which is located in the southeastern upland of Qinghai Province.

We will start to visit Longwu Temple.The temple is filled with rare and valuable artifacts, as well as several imperial artifacts including seals used by the emperor of the Ming Dynasty. The temple has organically grown over its long history, what started as a prayer hall expanded to know include a scripture hall, an astronomy room, several courtyards as well as beautiful grounds.

After lunch break, we will visit Wutun Temple, the Temple is divided into the “lower” and “upper” temple. This classically styled temple is filled with ancient Tibetan treasures: frescos and weavings. The temple is widely renowned across Qinghai; these two half-temples combine a comprehensive record of the religious history of Tongren and Qinghai. 

After the meaningful Tibetan culture and art exploration, drive back to Xining.

After breakfast, drive to Dongguan Great Mosque, the largest mosque in Qinghai. The mosque is a sacred sanctuary for Muslims, one of the four greatest mosques in Northwest China and the highest-level institute of Islamic studies that enjoys high reputation at home and abroad. As the most important Muslim community in Xining, you may see lots of Muslim disciples worshiping and attending Muslim event here.

After the sightseeing, your tour guide will escort you to catch your flight or train to next destinations. Tour ends.
