Day 1Arrival in Beijing & Pick-up

Upon your arrival in Beijing, your guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Relax in the hotel during the remainder of the day, or you can have a self-exploration with suggestions from your guide. 

Day 2Beijing

Attractions: Temple of Heaven, Mutianyu Great Wall

Our guide will meet you up at the hotel lobby and start to explore the Great Wall. Firstly visit Temple of Heaven, the World Heritage List in 1998. The temple is China’s existing largest structure for sacrifice to heaven and was used to pray for harvest by the emperors. Almost the local resident will do morning exercises in the square and full of vigor. You will have chance to watch Chinese Kongfu, Taichi, square dancing, etc. and get to know the real folk master thereDrive to Mutianyu Great Wall, which section is more popular among foreign visitors. Lunch time at Xiaolongpu Restaurant, famous for the vegetable food, such as fried vegetables, dry-fried beans, sweet corn cake

Visit Mutianyu Great Wall, which is one of the best-preserved sections with the largest construction scale and best quality among all sections of Great Wall, and more popular among foreign visitors. You can choose to hike on the Great Wall, or take cable car up and walk around. (Round way cable car is included)Drive back to Beijing city, while you can take a nap in the car. En route we will have a stop at a tea house. You can plan for the night show or the Peking duck dinner with your guide and ask for suggestions

Day 3China Great Wall Tour

Mutianyu Great Wall

This morning you will be taken to Mutianyu Great Wall to experience at first hand the wonder of the Great Wall. The round-trip cable car will be arranged. Standing on the wall and looking at it stretching up and down into boundless distance is an exciting experience and will leave you a life-long memory. Lunch is on your own and your guide will gladly assist.Continue your trip to Sacred Way, a 7-kilometer-long passage leading to the Imperial Tombs of 13 Emperors of Ming Dynasty. The Emperor, known as the Son of the Heaven, who came from Heaven to his country through the Sacred Way, also would return to Heaven through this road.

Niaochao National Stadium

Then drive by the Olympic National Stadium, also known as the Bird’s Nest. You will see its unique appearance and take nice photos at a distance. Today’s last stop is a featured local market.

Day 4Beijing - Xian

Attractions: Beijing Hutong, Summer Palace, Take high speed train to Xian

After breakfast, drive to the imperial site of the Temple of Heaven. Originally a site used to pay homage to Heaven and pray for good harvests, it is now a bustling place where locals take part in traditional activities such as Tai Chi, dancing, kite flying, water calligraphy, and others.

Then get back to the central city to hop on a rickshaw to experience the Beijing Hutongs – small alleys made by neighboring quadrangle dwellings. Shuttle among different Hutongs to get a feel of the old Beijing life style, visit various antique shops and small boutiques, and truly feel the historical changes of Beijing, also pay a visit to a local family’s home in the traditional Hutongs.

Day 5Xian

Attractions: Terracotta Warriors, Ancient City Wall, Muslim Quarter

After breakfast, drive about 40km to discover one of the greatest man-made wonders in the world – the Terracotta Warriors and Horses, built by the first emperor of China Qin Shihuang to protect him in his afterlife. Over 8,000 life-size warriors, horses and chariots, buried in 3 pits for more than 2,000 years until uncovered by a local farmer in 1974, form an ancient military army with complete battle units of infantry, cavalry, etc. Standing in front of these figures, one can’t help being amazed not only by the ambition of Emperor Qin Shihuang but also by the fabulous artistic skills of ancient Chinese artisans.

After lunch, return back to Xian take a wonderful stroll on the Ancient City Wall, the largest and best-preserved ancient city wall in China. Enjoy panoramic views of modern Xian while you leisurely examine this well-maintained city wall which is 12 meters high and 18 meters wide with a total circuit of nearly 14 kilometers. This visit is followed by a relaxing wander around bustling and lively Muslim Quarter, a place where you can try different local snacks and explore Muslim culture.

Day 6Xian- Xining

Attractions: Small Wild Goose Pagoda, Flight to Xining

Pick up from hotel in the morning, and transfer to visit the Small Wild Goose Pagoda,  one of the most well-preserved Tang Dynasty buddha temples. It is  reputed as the Tang Dynasty elaborate and valuable Buddhist architectural heritage. After lunch, you will be transferred to the airport for a 1.5 hours flight to Xining (2261m), one of the major gateways to the Tibetan Plateau. Your Xining tour guide will wait for you at the airport and help you to check in the hotel. After that, have a rest of this day.

Day 7Xining

Attractions: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkor Street

After breakfast, you will start your tour to Qinghai Lake (Average 3,200m /10,500ft above sea level). After 2.5 hours driving, you will reach this largest inland and salty lake of China. During the way, you can have a short stop at the Sun & Moon Mountain site – a natural boundary of the Loess Plateau and Qinghai-Tibetan Plateau. In the late afternoon, be transferred back to Xining and have a rest of this day.

Day 8Xining - Lhasa

Attractions: Ta’er Monastery, Train to Lhasa

Today, you will first take a 0.5 hour driving to Ta’er Monastery (2 hours) – one of the six grandest monasteries of Tibetan Dge Lugs School, for your half day religious tour there. After lunch and free at the leisure till be transferred to Xinning train station for your overnight train to Lhasa.

Day 9Lhasa

It will be a tired day because you need to stay on the train for more than half of this day. After arrival Lhasa (altitude: 3600m), your Lhasa tour guide will wait for you at the train station. Be transferred to the hotel and have a rest of this day.

Day 10Lhasa

Attractions: Potala Palace, Jokhang Monastery, Barkhor Street

Hotel: Overnight in Lhasa

Taking a visit to Lhasa, a trip to Potala Palace (1 hours) – largest monastery of its type in the world and official home to Dalai Lama. When finished lunch, move to Jokhang Monastery (1 hour) – where monks receive their official training and education. The surrounding Jokang Monastery of is Barkhor Street (1 hour) – afford us a window into Tibetan culture and an opportunity to buy colorful ethnic handicrafts rarely seen outside of Tibet. After that, drive back to your hotel and free of the rest time.

Day 11Lhasa

Attractions: Drepung Monastery, Sera Monaster, Norbulingka Park

Hotel: Overnight in Lhasa

After breakfast, enjoy your one day city tour today that starts with a visit to Drepung Monastery (1.5 hours) – one of the three great monasteries in Tibet. Drive back to the downtown and have the lunch, then continue your tour to Norbulingka Park (1 hour) – a traditional summer palace and residence starting with the 7th Dalai Lama. After that, pay a visit to Sera Monastery (1.5 hours) – .to see a monks debating inside the shady courtyard behind the main temple. After that, drive back to your hotel and free of the rest time.

Day 12Lhasa - Shanghai

Feel free in this day till be transferred to the airport for a 3-hour flight to Shanghai. Upon the arrival, your Shanghai tour guide will wait for you at the airport and help you to check in the hotel. Have a rest in the hotel in this day.

Day 13Shanghai

Attractions: Shanghai Museum, Yu Garden, Shanghai World Financial Center, the Bund

You will take a full day of sightseeing to explore both the past and present of Shanghai. Your first stop is Shanghai Museum, one of the Best Four Museums in China. This modern museum, with a round top and a square base which symbolizing the ancient Chinese perception of the world as “round sky, square earth”, has collected many international-standard exhibits of bronzes, paintings, calligraphy, sculpture, ceramics, jade from more than 5,000 years ago to the Qing dynasty. Then you will take an interesting visit to Yu Garden, a shining star among all the ancient Chinese gardens in Jiangnan. This garden fully embodies the traditional design of Chinese architecture with jagged pavilions with elegant decorations, glittering pools with roving fish, and pine trees sprouting to the sky, all designed to refresh your mood and spirit. 

Next, you will drive several kilometers to enjoy a panoramic view of the modern face of Shanghai from the 100th floor (474m) of “the Eye of Shanghai” Shanghai World Financial Center. 

You will then be transferred to another popular landmark of Shanghai, Nanjing Road, a shopping paradise as well as a great place to take a wonderful walk to experience the modern atmosphere of the City. Lastly, you will stop at the Bund, originally a simple towpath for transporting goods but now transformed into a feverish trading district.

Day 14Shanghai

Attractions: Zhujiajiao Water Town, Free at leisure in the afternoon

Today, have a leisure visit to Zhujiajiao Water Town, a picturesque and classic water village, over 400 years old with a signature five-arch bridge spanning the Cao Gang River. It was an important town for local trade, shipping goods in and out of its manmade canals to the river. You will take a leisure stroll around the maze of paths and bridges, and take a boat ride to view the residences of this nicely-preserved water village. Then be transferred back to Shanghai. Free at leisure in the afternoon.
