Itinerary planning for a country as large and ancient as China is a recipe for frustration. Day 1Arrival in Beijing & Pick-up

Beijing Airport Parking Lot

Upon your arrival in Beijing, your guide will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel. Relax in the hotel during the remainder of the day, or you can have a self-exploration with suggestions from your guide. 

Day 2Beijing

Attractions: Temple of Heaven, Hutong, Peking opera facial mask painting, Tian’anmen Square, Forbidden City, Kungfu Show

Tiananmen Square (Tiananmen Guangchang)

This morning, your tour guide will pick up you at the hotel and take you to visit Tiananmen Square. You will see what the biggest urban city square in the world looks like.

Forbidden City-The Palace Museum

From Tiananmen Square, you will enter the Imperial Palace, also known as the Forbidden City to explore its fascinating halls and pavilions. Here, you will not only learn how the emperor handled political affairs and lived their lives, but appreciate numerous ancient art treasures. At noon, an a la carte welcome lunch will be served at a superb local restaurant, where you can have a taste of authentic Chinese food.

Hutong Tour

In the afternoon, you will take the rickshaw to go sightseeing in the hutongs. Also, visit a Beijing courtyard there and experience paper cutting, a traditional Chinese folk art. It is a kind of auspicious patterns used widely as decoration in Chinese people’s daily life.

Day 3China Great Wall Tour

Attractions: Mutianyu Great Wall, Temple of Heaven

Mutianyu Great Wall

This morning you will be taken to Mutianyu Great Wall to experience at first hand the wonder of the Great Wall. The round-trip cable car will be arranged. Standing on the wall and looking at it stretching up and down into boundless distance is an exciting experience and will leave you a life-long memory. Lunch is on your own and your guide will gladly assist.

Temple of Heaven

In the afternoon, you will see the Temple of Heaven with its unique architectures, where the emperors worshiped the heavens in hopes of good harvests.

Day 4Beijing - Xi’an by High-speed Train

Summer Palace (Yiheyuan)

Visit the Summer Palace – the largest existing imperial garden with a graceful landscape and magnificent constructions.

Xi’an

In the afternoon, you will experience a 5-hour high speed train to Xi’an. Your local guide and driver will meet you at Xi’an North Railway Station and drive you to check in at the hotel.

Day 5Xi’an

Attractions: The Museum of Qin Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses, Xi’an City Wall (Chengqiang), , Muslim Quarter

The Museum of Qin Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses

The visit to the magnificent Terracotta Army will start your day’s trip. In the museum, there are altogether three excavated pits exhibiting amazing warrior figures and Chinese ancient weapons. Lunch is on your own, but your guide will recommend restaurants around the site according to your preference.

Xi’an City Wall (Chengqiang)

Xian Ancient City Wall, the most completely preserved and largest city wall in China. It was built for military defense in the Ming Dynasty, about 650 years ago. You can optionally ride a bike on the city wall.

Muslim Quarter

Around the mosque is a lively Muslim bazaar, where you could explore for local snacks and handicrafts.

Day 6Xi’an - Shanghai by Flight

Attractions: Shaanxi History Museum, Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Dayanta)

Shaanxi History Museum

Shaanxi History Museum is one of the biggest and most famous museums in China. The museum houses the cultural heritage unearthed in Shaanxi Province. Although it’s a provincial Museum, the collection of relics here is at national level from both quantity and quality as Xian had been Capitals for more than 13 dynasties in ancient China. Following the tour guide, walk around and stop at those priceless exhibits to learn the hidden history and splendid civilization of China.

Big Wild Goose Pagoda (Dayanta)

Followed by is Giant Wild Goose Pagoda, a square brick pagoda built to store Buddhism scripts brought from ancient India. Here, you will have an experience to wear the traditional clothes of Han Nationality to stroll around.

Shanghai

Then, your guide will transfer you to the airport for the flight to Shanghai. After arrival, you will be met and led to the hotel by the local guide.

Day 7Shanghai

Attractions: Xintiandi, Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall, Yu Garden (Yuyuan), The Bund (Wai Tan)

Xintiandi

Xintiandi is a great place for leisure and amusement where you will meet rows of shops and bars transformed from Shikumen houses.

Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall

The next stop is Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall. With the theme of City, People, Environment and Development, it shows that how did the city develop into a modern metropolis from a small fishing village. The lunch is a la carte, so you can taste the dishes according to your interest.

Yu Garden (Yuyuan)

In the afternoon, follow the guide to Yu Garden. In this classic Chinese garden, you will see about 40 ancient architectures.

The Bund (Wai Tan)

Finally, we are going to the Bund to see the architecture complex in completely different western styles and take a walk along Huangpu River.

Your China Experience is over soon as you transfer to the airport and board the homebound international flight, bidding a fond farewell to this ancient land.
