Overview:

This well-designed tour will help you to discover most of the wonders from Lhasa to Mt Everest and Lake Namtso. The tour starts with the top holy sites in Lhasa such as Potala Palace which is the landmark of Tibet and Jokhang temple, an ancient temple holds the highest position in Tibetan Buddhism. Then you will head to Gyantse and Shigatse for an adventure tour and get close to Lake Yamdrok and a great many of other attractions on the way. The sunrise at Everest Peak could be a spectacle not to be missed and it may be an unforgettable memory in your life time. Day 1Lhasa Arrival

Attractions: No

Hotel: Overnight in Lhasa

Upon your arrival at the Lhasa airport/railwaystation, your tour guide will greet you and escort you to your hotel and help you get checked in. You will have the rest of the day and evening to rest and relax to become acclimatized to the higher altitude of Tibet.

Day 2Lhasa

Attractions: Potala Palace, Jokhang Temple, Barkhor Street

After breakfast at the hotel, we will visit the incredible Potala Palace – the highest palace in the world. As we climb to the entrance gate, you will have a spectacular view over all of Lhasa.

After exploring the numerous interesting chapels and learning about the traditional culture and history of the palace and the city, we will move on to the spiritually significant Jokhang Temple, one of the most important temples in Tibetan Buddhism.
To see the “real” Lhasa, we’ll stroll through Barkhor Street with its thriving local market where you can pick up some local Tibetan, Nepalese and Indian handicrafts and souvenirs.

Day 3Lhasa

Attractions: Norbulingka Park, Drepung Monastery, Sera Monastery

After breakfast, we start our day with a visit to the summer palace of the Dalai Lamas and also the largest Tibetan garden – Norbulingka Park. The luxuriant trees and flowers, cool ponds and comfortable palaces make Norbulingka the best place for a summer retreat. 

Then drive about 5 km westward to Drepung Monastery. Drepung Monastery is located on the hillside west of Lhasa – at one time the world’s largest monastery with about 10,000 monks living there. A pleasant walk up the hill leads to the solemn ambience inside the monastery’s many halls and chapels.
After Drepung, we will move on to the Sera Monastery. The main highlight of the Sera Monastery is watching the crowd of monks debating inside the shady courtyard behind the main temple. Every day except Sunday, hundreds of red-robed monks assemble in small groups and practice their debating skills – a very impressive sight to behold, as the monks are very animated in their debates about the various attributes of Buddhist scriptures.

Day 4Lhasa - Shigatse

Attractions: Yamdrok Lake, Karola Glacier

This morning we’ll take a drive up to the Kampala Pass (elevation 4797 meters) where you’ll have a glimpse of Yamdrok Lake down.

Later on we’ll be able to visit the Karola Glacier before continuing along the southern Friendship Highway to Gyantse, where you will be able to see the famous Gyantse Kumbum, one of the most stunning architectural wonders in Tibet. Late in the afternoon we will continue on to Shigatse where we will spend the night.

Day 5Shigatse - Tingri

Attractions: Rongbuk Monastery, Everest Base Camp

Hotel: Overnight at guest house near the Everest Base Camp

After breakfast we’ll set out towards the peak of the world – Mount Everest. Departing from Shigatse and traveling via Lhatse and Tingri, you will see some of the most beautiful and unique scenery in the world – incredibly blue skies, floating high clouds, endless grasslands and the highest mountain peaks in the world. We’ll also stop by the Rongbuk Monastery – the world’s highest altitude monastery before spending the night at the Everest Base Camp.

Day 6Tingri - Shigatse

Enjoy a breathtaking sunrise at the Everest Base Camp before we journey back through the spectacular scenery to spend the night again in Shigatse.

Day 7Shigatse - Lhasa

Attractions: Tashilunpo Monastery

Hotel: Over night in Lhasa

We will get an early start today to visit the Tashilunpo Monastery, which was founded in 1447 by the 1st Dalai Lama. After visiting this ancient monastery, one of the most important sites in Tibetan Buddhism, we will head back to Lhasa.

Day 8Lhasa - Namtso -  Damxung / Yampachen

In the morning, drive from Lhasa to Lake Namtso, one of the four holy lakes of Tibet and also the highest saline lake in the world. On the way, you can see snow-capped Nyenchen Thanglha Mountain Ranges and lots of nomads and their tent with grazing yak and sheep densely-populated on the flourishing grassland ( in summer). Besides, you can enjoy the view of Sky-Road Railway with snow mountain background; while standing at the famous Lagenla Pass(5190m), you can view the stunning vista of holy Namtso Lake. Then we can enjoy our time to do leisurely trek around Tashi Dor Island and along the lakeshore.

Drive back to Dumxung or Yampachen.

Day 9Yampachen - Lhasa

Attractions: Yangpachen Hot springs

Hotel: Overnight in Lhasa

Drive to Yampanchen and enjoy the natural hot spring bath in here. (Please prepare your own swimming suit.) The famous Yangpachen lies on the southern slope of the Nyenchen Tangula Mountains and is famous for its geothermal scenery. Every year, Yangpachen Hot Spring emits heat equal to that of 4.7 million tons of standard coal. Lying in a plateau basin, Yangpachen’s geothermal field covers 40 square km. To take advantage of geothermal field, resorts were built in here, giving tourists a chance to enjoy the outdoor natural hot spring spa.

After having thoroughly relaxed in the spa, we head back to Lhasa.

Day 10Lhasa Departure

Today you will have free time until your tour guide escorts you to the Lhasa train station or airport for your departing train or flight from Lhasa. This will end your tour services in Tibet.
